Export your data or close your account

Take a copy of your logbook at any time. If you close your account, Pilot Lab emails you a final export first, and you choose whether your logbook is erased.

Your logbook is your record. You can take a copy of it whenever you like, and closing your account always starts by sending you one.

Take a copy of your data

  • Logbook exports: workspace Settings, then Exports. This is covered under Importing and exporting.
  • Documents: open any document and choose Download.
  • Notes: open a note, then use its menu to Export it as PDF or Markdown, or Copy markdown.
  • Cloud backup (Pro): an automatic weekly copy of your logbook and documents in Dropbox or Google Drive, under Settings, Cloud backup.

Close your account

  1. Click your avatar in the top bar and choose Security.
  2. Under Deactivate your account, choose Deactivate your account.
  3. Read the window, decide about erasing your logbook (below), and confirm.

What happens next:

  • You are signed out everywhere, including the mobile app.
  • You leave every workspace you belong to, and any pending invitations to your email address are removed.
  • Before anything is erased, a final export of your flight logbook and documents is emailed to you as a download link. It also includes the conversations in your Pilot Lab inbox. The copy belongs to you.

Keeping or erasing your logbook

The window has a checkbox: Also permanently erase my logbook.

  • Leave it unticked to close the account and keep the record. This is the default.
  • Tick it if you want the content of your flight entries destroyed as well. Type ERASE in the box to confirm, then choose Deactivate and erase.

Erasing destroys the content of every flight entry, its earlier versions, your exports, any uploaded logbook photographs and your inbox conversations. Your export is emailed first. The logbook's tamper-evident chain is kept, and each entry is marked as erased, so the record reads as erased rather than as altered. This cannot be undone.

When Pilot Lab will not let you close your account

If you are the only admin of a workspace that has other members, you are asked to sort that out first: make someone else an admin, or remove the other members. Otherwise the workspace would be left with nobody able to manage it.

Coming back

If you sign in again later with the same email address, your account reopens with a new, empty logbook. Your earlier logbook isn't reconnected automatically. If you didn't erase it and want it back, email support@pilotlab.app from that address before you start logging again. See How do I delete my account and data?.

Delete a workspace instead

If you want to remove one workspace but keep your account, open that workspace's Settings, stay on General, and use Delete this workspace at the bottom of the page. This removes the workspace and everything in it, and cannot be undone. Take an export first.

Subscriptions

Closing your account or deleting a workspace is not a substitute for cancelling a Pro subscription. Cancel it first in Billing & Plans, using Manage billing. See Upgrade to Pro and manage your subscription.
