Join your club
Join a club workspace from an email invitation, or apply from the club's Pilot Lab page. Your club admin then sets what you can use.
There are two ways into a club workspace: the club invites you, or you apply from the club's page. Either way you keep your own Pilot Lab account and personal logbook. The club is added alongside it.
Accept an invitation
Your club admin sends the invitation to your email address.
- Open the email and follow the link. If you do not have a Pilot Lab account yet, sign up with the same email address the invitation went to.
- Accept the invitation.
- The club appears in your workspace switcher. Pick it to open the club.
If you already have a Pilot Lab account, the invitation also arrives in your Pilot Lab inbox, and the workspace switcher shows a dot while it waits. Open it and choose Accept and join. You can also open Workspace invites from the switcher, select the club and choose Accept & Join.
Accepting makes you a member of the club. If the club has published membership terms, it then asks you, in your inbox, to accept them and choose which of your pilot records it may see.
If the invitation does not arrive, check your spam folder, then ask the club to check the address it used. An admin can see whether an invitation is Awaiting response or Accepted, and can remove it and send a new one.
Apply from the club's page
Some clubs take applications. The club can send you a link to its Pilot Lab page, which shows its name, location, a short description and a contact, and badges for how it takes members:
- invite only: you need an invitation. The page says This club is invite only.
- manual approval: you apply, and a club admin approves or declines.
- auto accept: you are added as soon as you apply.
To apply:
- Open the club's page while signed in.
- Under Membership, write a short note in Tell the club why you want to join.
- Choose Apply to join.
If the club has published membership terms, they appear above the button. Some records are marked Required and some Requested: joining means agreeing to share what the club requires, and the rest is your choice. Choose Apply to join to accept the terms and apply in one step.
The page then shows Current application status. While it is pending, you can choose Withdraw application. If the club declines and adds a note, you see the note there.
Once you are in, the page says You already have access to this club workspace. with an Open club workspace button.
What you can use once you are in
A club decides what each person can do. Every member can normally open the booking sheet and book aircraft for themselves, unless the club has changed that. Beyond that, club admins give members permission groups, such as Booking desk or Instructor, and those groups decide which other parts of the club appear in your sidebar.
That means a new member may see very little at first. If you expect to book aircraft or see the fleet and cannot, ask your club admin to check your permission groups. See Run your club: roles and permissions.
Joining a club and your privacy
When you join, the people who run the club can see the member details they need to run it safely, such as your membership status and your medical and flight review dates. Other members cannot. Your personal logbook stays private to you. Read What your club can see before you join.
Leaving a club
Ask a club admin to remove you. Your personal logbook stays as it is.
