  3. v1.12.0

This release brings three bodies of work together. The Inbox has been updated to include more functions across the application. Inbound calendar sync lets you import flights from an .ics file or private calendar link, review them before they are added, and keep subscribed calendars up to date. Logbook improvements for bug fixes, as well as more regulator support (Coming soon). Scan imports, flight-time entry and currency checks are also more reliable.

    • NewPilot Lab messages are now full conversations that pilots can read in the Inbox, with earlier one-way messages brought into the same view. This will be worked on in the coming months to be completed fully.
    • NewPilots can reply to Pilot Lab from the app, with closed conversations reopening when a reply is sent
    • NewContact Us now creates a conversation in the Inbox while continuing to send the support email
    • NewStaff can manage pilot conversations in the admin console, including sending messages, closing or reopening conversations, and starting a conversation by email
    • NewPilots can download their conversations or remove them from their Inbox, and staff can delete conversations from the console
    • NewConversations can show a reference to a related logbook entry, import, or correction when the pilot can access it
    • NewA daily email digest can list unopened Inbox items, with separate switches for each message category
    • ImprovedInbox messages received while a pilot is elsewhere in the app now show a toast that opens the Inbox
    • NewImport events from an uploaded .ics file or private calendar link, review the detected flights, and choose which ones to add as planned flights
    • NewSubscribe to external calendars with scheduled refreshes, with imported flight changes and cancellations reflected in Pilot Lab after review
    • NewClassify roster events during import so operating sectors can be identified separately from non-flight activities
    • ImprovedImported flights retain their source and provenance, use the source event's date, and are kept out of that source's outbound calendar feed to prevent duplicates
    • FixedEdits made in Google Calendar shortly after a flight is pushed are now retained, and missed changes can be recovered during reconciliation
    • FixediPhone Calendar can now load Pilot Lab subscription feeds that request the standard calendar response format
    • FixedCalendar refreshes no longer poll former members or paused sources, and review results remain safe when reopened
    • ImprovedFlights imported from a calendar are kept out of outbound calendar publishing and the .ics feed for that source unless you explicitly enable them
    • FixedTurning calendar publishing back on restores the layer's flights, while cancellations and removals remain correctly reflected in the connected calendar
    • ImprovedNew Zealand flight calculations now use clearer policy-based allocation for role credit, engine class, cross-country, IFR and command-practice time, including keeping command-practice hours out of the PIC total when they are recorded separately
    • FixedSaving a draft flight no longer treats engine-filled landings and totals as values the pilot wrote, so changing a flight from day to night or correcting its details recalculates them correctly
    • FixedChanging a draft's total time no longer turns separately recorded command-practice time into PIC time
    • FixedFlight autofill now updates draft entries only, with versioning and an audit record protecting finalized flights
    • NewLogbook entries now expose calculation provenance so clients can distinguish written values from values filled by a ruleset and see the basis used for an assumption

    • FixedInstrument-rating currency now has one consistent verdict, counts only recorded instrument time, and no longer treats IFR time flown in VMC as instrument time
    • FixedWorkspaces without applicable currency rules are no longer evaluated against New Zealand defaults
    • FixedPassenger currency now counts blank take-off fields consistently with recorded landings instead of marking pilots out of currency solely because take-offs were not entered

    • FixedCertified logbook exports now use the workspace's authority instead of always producing a New Zealand CAA form
    • ImprovedAuthority-specific logbook services and administrator ruleset screens now follow the workspace authority instead of assuming New Zealand
    • FixedPilot type-authorisation lists now include every authorisation held and identify its issuing authority
    • FixedThe logbook Display menu now shows only options supported by the selected layout
    • FixedSelecting a crew member in the entries table opens only their profile card instead of also opening the entry peek

    • FixedScan pages are checked and rotated before reading so an incorrectly oriented page is not charged for a second read
    • FixedTyped flight times and Hobbs readings are saved once and reject impossible values without creating false conflict warnings
    • FixedChanging flight times no longer leaves the total time blank or creates inconsistent credited hours
    • ImprovedImported and scanned flights use the engine class stated on the flight line, while rotorcraft are kept out of single- and multi-engine totals
    • FixedThe navigation-data map retries when its provider is throttled and falls back to the last good tile instead of returning an error
    • FixedA failed labels request in the entry panel is handled without producing an unhandled error
  4. v1.9.0

This release improves logbook imports for recreational and non-standard aircraft, so stated engine classes are handled more accurately and conflicting data is flagged clearly.

    • NewImport lines that state their own engine class are now filed under that class when appropriate, including recreational aircraft, while simulator and ground entries are kept out of engine-class totals
    • FixedLogbook imports now recognise recreational aircraft identifiers and preserve the engine-class hours stated in the aircraft’s logbook, with conflicting classifications flagged for review instead of being filed incorrectly
    • NewPilot Lab can now send a one-way message directly to an individual pilot’s inbox, where the pilot can read the full message and reply by email
  5. v1.8.0

This release makes flight-time editing and syncing safer, with clearer hour displays and a more reliable whiteboard in the entry panel.

    • FixedEditing a flight’s total time or capacity columns now preserves the hours you entered instead of moving them into PIC or dropping them
    • FixedDraft flights with hours that do not add up are refused safely and kept in the queue for correction, rather than causing a sync error or being finalized with incomplete edits
    • FixedHour figures in the flight entry panel now use consistent formatting, so the same duration is displayed the same way across totals
    • FixedOpening a flight note with an oversized whiteboard no longer causes the entry panel to fail
    • ImprovedChangelog email digests now use the branded template, include release highlights and an app link, and provide a one-click unsubscribe option
  6. v1.7.0

    • NewPages view and import progress now update through a live stream when available, while retaining polling fallback for interrupted connections
    • NewFlight Canvas now has a home showing existing boards, their activity, and node counts; asking a question from Home creates or opens a board with that question as its first turn
    • ImprovedAssistant conversations now share one transcript presentation across Home, the dock, and Flight Canvas, including sources, activity, approvals, failures, and jump-to-latest behaviour
    • ImprovedAssistant controls are available in a bottom rail, with chat history for open conversations and voice input in the chat panel
    • FixedTyping pilot and crew names no longer loses all but the last character, and editing flight hours keeps the line total in sync
    • FixedImported flight details now preserve take-off counts and separate actual, simulated, and ground instrument time when saved
    • FixedRegistration lookup is scoped to the selected pilot's book and workspace, and a failed lookup now gives a stable message without preventing a typed registration from being used
    • FixedImported endorsements and records are protected from duplicate commits, stale decisions, archived-page commits, and concurrent page changes
    • FixedTotals and review counts now agree across the action bar, filters, queue, and details panel, including footer-only mismatches
    • FixedOCR disagreements are surfaced for review instead of allowing a confident-looking conflicting value to pass automatically
    • FixedBoard creation and workspace switching no longer leave a previous board displayed or selected after a failed create
  13. v1.0.5

This release adds more flexible club booking views, clearer flight and document workflows, and a new path into Pro billing. It also fixes several issues affecting flight-data searches, exam records, mobile insights, club operations, and account access.

    • NewDocument uploads now show workspace storage usage and limits, including a Pro upgrade option when a Free workspace reaches its limits
    • NewExam records can now have one answer document containing a separate, syllabus-backed section for each deficiency
    • NewThe assistant transcript now shows its execution steps, approval requests, and answer sources, while retaining tool failures when a thread is reopened
    • NewThe mobile app now includes redesigned Insights, Aircraft, Expenses, and sign-off screens with pilot-scoped totals, filters, and clearer status information
    • ImprovedCloud backup settings now show availability separately for Google Drive and Dropbox, allow existing schedules to be switched off, and explain when a provider cannot be used
    • ImprovedMobile Insights and aircraft experience figures now remain scoped to the pilot's own logbook, even for users who can view club-wide data
    • ImprovedEmpty values in logbook entry tables and grids now appear blank instead of as dashes, while real zero values remain visible
    • FixedThe flight-data Search action now sends a complete date range, avoiding provider validation errors and unnecessary consumed credits
    • FixedRevisiting the upgrade page no longer opens a new checkout or changes billing cadence for a trial user who has already added a card
    • FixedDocument replacements now recheck storage under the workspace limit, correctly release space for empty files, and respect upgraded limits without requiring a later refresh
    • FixedMobile sign-off rows now remain visible long enough to show the signed confirmation, and expense filters search the complete ledger rather than only the loaded page
    • FixedUsers are no longer signed out during normal page loads because of conflicting session handling
  14. v1.0.4

This release brings a more capable flight planner and a clearer OCR logbook review workflow. It also improves calendar synchronisation reliability and gives instance staff better operational visibility and workspace administration tools.

    • NewReview scanned logbook pages in a dedicated workspace with row filters, detailed flight strips, a zoomable paper view, scan-line calibration, crew suggestions and a page map
    • NewSee OCR import progress as a batch pipeline, with clear uploading, queued, reading and ready stages plus an indicator when processing is active
    • ImprovedOCR review progress is now measured by pages, with partial progress shown for the page currently being reviewed
    • FixedOCR imports now handle page totals, simulated instrument time, page-year corrections and incomplete validation data more accurately
    • FixedConcurrent OCR uploads now respect the free page allowance, and retakes cannot race an active scan or leave the review grid stale
    • NewCreate and edit planned flights from a compact calendar popover, including their dates, times, route, aircraft and notes
    • ImprovedThe planner now uses clearer Local and Zulu time displays, keeps multi-day and all-day selections intact, and shows the current time across the calendar
    • FixedPlanner edits now preserve the correct flight and timezone when switching events or clocks, and concurrent reschedules no longer overwrite one another
    • FixedCalendar synchronisation now updates ordinary flight edits and cancellations promptly, removes events pilots have cancelled after entitlement lapses, and keeps invited pilots and club-linked flights in sync
    • FixedCalendar reconnects and remote changes now preserve existing events more reliably, avoid duplicate calendars, and recover from provider or sync failures without losing pending updates
    • NewInstance staff can view system health, scheduled jobs, provider usage, product health and a needs-attention queue from the admin console
    • NewInstance staff can search workspaces by name, slug or owner and review entitlement status, membership counts and grant sources before opening a workspace
  15. v1.0.3Breaking

This release improves dashboard layout persistence and consistency for pilots. Saved widget arrangements now survive reloads, and layout-based ordering avoids conflicting sources of truth while preserving keyboard arrangement where it remains supported.

    • FixedSaved widget positions and arrangements are restored when the logbook dashboard reloads, with malformed saved layouts safely falling back to defaults
    • ImprovedDashboard widget order now follows the saved layout as the single source of truth, preventing conflicting order data from changing how the board is arranged
    • ImprovedKeyboard controls continue to let pilots rearrange widgets in both wide and narrow views without allowing narrow phone layouts to overwrite a desktop arrangement
  16. v1.0.2Action required

The release adds a session-status check for the marketing site, allowing it to reliably show whether the current browser is signed in and display the appropriate navigation state.

    • NewThe marketing site can now check whether your current browser session is signed in and show the appropriate account navigation without treating anonymous visitors as errors
  17. v1.0.1

This release adds the first user-facing Career Map experience, with a dashboard widget and a dedicated route that distinguishes recorded flight tracks from direct legs between known aerodromes. It also improves onboarding identity updates, trial-period accuracy, sign-in and map usability, and security for self-hosted deployments.

    • NewExplore your flying history with the new Career Map dashboard widget and dedicated map page, including route data, a legend, zoom and pan controls, and clear empty and unavailable-data states
    • NewView flights with recorded tracks separately from flights represented only by their departure and arrival aerodromes, so the map does not imply an unrecorded path
    • NewArrange dashboard widgets freely on a grid, resize them to suit your workflow, and continue moving them with the keyboard
    • NewAdjust Detailed Map Viewer layer opacity, view layer and altitude legends, and have map-layer preferences follow you across devices
    • NewShow aerodrome names and symbols on the Detailed Map Viewer, with labels prioritised by runway size and decluttered by zoom
    • ImprovedThe Pro trial length shown in billing and pricing now comes from the same setting that grants the trial, keeping the advertised and actual duration in sync
    • ImprovedOnboarding now updates an automatically generated pilot name and personal workspace title when you provide your real name, while preserving names you chose yourself and existing club, airline, or school workspaces
    • FixedRestore the fill, hover state, selected state, and keyboard focus styling for the Google sign-in button and onboarding role selectors
    • FixedAerodrome labels now render correctly in the Detailed Map Viewer at the same zoom levels as their symbols
    • ImprovedSelf-hosted production containers now run without root privileges and exclude local environment files from images
    • ImprovedSelf-hosted deployment templates no longer provide usable default signing secrets and instead generate or require private values
    • FixedProduction alert notifications are encrypted at rest and development database logs are exported to CloudWatch for longer-lived operational visibility
  18. v1.0.A

This release improves the logbook import and export experience, adds safer account erasure and sharing workflows, and strengthens protection for pilot data. It also includes fixes that make imports, exports, settings, and integrations more reliable.

    • NewPilots can export a printable HTML version of the CAA 1373 logbook and create expiring, revocable links for sharing eligible personal exports
    • NewPilots can opt to erase their logbook when deactivating an account through the security settings flow, with an explicit explanation and ERASE confirmation
    • ImprovedLogbook imports now clearly separate file uploads from LogTen Pro imports and guide pilots through fetching a shared LogTen report without storing the link
    • ImprovedImported day and night figures are now shown in the import preview when they differ from the values calculated from the flight date and aerodrome
    • ImprovedThe changelog drafter can create release notes for an explicit commit range, reports when its commit cap omitted changes, and rejects invalid or unrelated ranges
    • FixedLogbook file uploads now use the intended AWS task or deployment credentials instead of placeholder credentials, preventing server-side imports from failing with access errors
    • FixedCAA 1373 PDF exports no longer fail because of a missing rotorcraft note, and the PDF and HTML versions now use the same underlying document data
    • FixedCloud backup generation now accepts the PDF rendering it uses internally while continuing to deliver the completed backup as a ZIP
    • FixedAccount erasure now stops before deleting logbook data when the closure email was not actually delivered
    • FixedLogbook integrity checks now identify and count erased records instead of silently skipping them
    • FixedA pilot's written exam answer can no longer attach another workspace member's private note
    • FixedNon-text labels on export share requests now return a validation error instead of an unexpected server error
    • FixedProduction boolean settings now accept the documented true and 1-style values consistently, while invalid values fail clearly instead of silently disabling integrations
    • FixedOutbound email, analytics, payments, cloud backup, and other integrations now default to being disabled unless the deployment explicitly enables them
    • FixedOCR import pages no longer start session replay recording, helping keep uploaded source images out of replay data
    • FixedPassword guidance now accepts strong passphrases that the server accepts instead of incorrectly disabling submission based on character classes
    • FixedFinalising logbook entries now uses a hold-to-confirm interaction where enabled, and loading, validation, notifications, and changing totals provide clearer feedback without shifting the surrounding layout
  19. v1.0

This release improves logbook accuracy and compliance workflows across imports, aircraft classification, licence progress, ratings, and exports. It also adds clearer type-rating and eligibility information while making several aviation records and reminders more reliable.

    • NewNew NZ ATPL(A) and ATPL(H) licence packs are available with requirements based on AC61-7 Revision 26
    • NewType-rating records now show authorisations, hours logged across covered aircraft types, and whether a rating is currently exercisable
    • NewCAA 1373 exports now include an aircraft type-ratings register with issuance details, covered types, and applicable notice information
    • NewThe logbook supports Robinson R22 and R44 safety-training reminders, including a clear warning when a held rating cannot currently be exercised
    • NewImported logbooks can now carry flight rules and recorded time splits through to committed entries
    • ImprovedLicence progress and automatic sign-off suggestions now credit only flights from the aircraft category covered by the licence pack
    • ImprovedHelicopter flights are no longer placed into single-engine or multi-engine aeroplane columns, and exports explain when those columns do not apply
    • ImprovedType-rating and eligibility checks now use the aircraft's recognised designations, reducing false no-match results when logbook and rating names differ
    • ImprovedThe rating picker now shows only rating types belonging to the current aviation authority
    • ImprovedImported time-bucket splits are retained during recalculation unless the underlying total or source data changes
    • FixedDry-run logbook recalculation no longer changes aircraft metadata or other production records
    • FixedImported IFR, PIC, SIC, and other recorded time columns are now credited using the values entered in the source logbook
    • FixedFlight-rule columns are automatically mapped during imports, and unreadable values are reported instead of being silently treated as VFR
    • FixedAircraft and LogTen imports no longer fail on flights without departure or arrival aerodromes
    • FixedCloud backups now detect pilot identity changes such as a corrected licence number and upload the updated bundle
    • FixedMagic-link sign-in now returns pilots to valid deep links after authentication
    • FixedThe crew picker keeps the requesting user visible even when many other people match the search
    • FixedSigner coverage warnings are now visible on endorsements and cannot be changed after signing
    • FixedDashboard reminders now render the barred status correctly instead of failing for affected helicopter pilots
    • FixedCAA 1373 rating rows now show Barred when any covered aircraft type cannot currently be exercised, including which type is affected
