Which countries and regulators are supported?

Pilot Lab calculates logbooks under New Zealand CAA rules today. What that means if you fly under another authority.

All plansWeb appUpdated 26 Oct 2026

Pilot Lab currently supports one set of logbook rules: the New Zealand Civil Aviation Authority (NZ CAA). When you set up your logbook, New Zealand is the only country on offer, and your totals, currency and licence progress are all worked out under NZ CAA rules.

What NZ CAA support covers

  • Totals calculated the way NZ CAA logbook columns are defined, including day and night split by the actual twilight times.
  • Licence progress for NZ CAA syllabi, from PPL through CPL, IR and ATPL, for aeroplanes and helicopters. See Training and licences.
  • Exports laid out for NZ, including a print layout that follows the CAA 1373 Pilot Flying Log Book page. See Export your logbook.
  • Aerodromes across New Zealand, including many smaller strips, when you enter where you flew from and to.

The rules are versioned. When they change, a new version is added rather than the old one being edited, so a total can be traced back to the rules it was worked out under.

If you fly under another authority

You can still use Pilot Lab to keep a record of your flying if you're based in Australia, the UK, Europe, the United States or elsewhere. Your entries, aircraft, notes and documents all work the same way. But be aware:

  • Totals and currency follow NZ CAA rules. Where your authority defines a column differently, Pilot Lab's figure may not match what your regulator expects.
  • Licence progress only offers NZ CAA syllabi.
  • Exports use NZ layouts.
  • Aerodromes outside New Zealand can be found by their ICAO code. Day and night are split from the aerodrome's own position and the sun there, but by NZ CAA's definition of night, which may differ from your authority's.
Check figures you rely on

If you're outside New Zealand, don't rely on Pilot Lab's totals or currency for a licence application, a flight test or a currency check without checking them against your own authority's rules.

Is support for my country coming?

We'd like to support other authorities, but we're not promising which or when. If you'd like your authority supported, email support@pilotlab.app and tell us where you fly. It genuinely helps us decide what comes next.

Your responsibility as the pilot

Pilot Lab helps you keep an accurate, well-organised logbook and does the arithmetic for you. It doesn't replace your own responsibility for your records. If you're unsure whether something meets a requirement, check with the CAA or your instructor.
