You can use Pilot Lab without touching the mouse much. There are three kinds of shortcut: a few key combinations that work anywhere, two-letter "go to" shortcuts for jumping between pages, and the command search, which finds everything else.

On a Mac, use ⌘ wherever this page says Ctrl.

Shortcuts that work anywhere

Ctrl + KOpen command search. Type the name of a page or action and press Enter.
Ctrl + /Show the list of keyboard shortcuts.
Ctrl + FJump to the search box in the top bar.
Ctrl + Shift + CCopy the address of the page you're on.
[Collapse or expand the sidebar.
EscClose an open entry panel or dialog.
Ctrl F searches Pilot Lab, not the page

Inside Pilot Lab, Ctrl + F opens Pilot Lab's own search instead of your browser's find-in-page. To find text on the page, use your browser's menu.

Go-to shortcuts

Press g, let go, then press the second letter. You don't hold the keys together.

g then sSettings
g then oSettings: Export
g then qSign-off queue (instructors only)

The sidebar shows the shortcut too: hover any item with a shortcut and the keys appear in its tooltip.

Flying club workspaces have their own set, starting with c (for example c then o for the club overview and c then b for bookings). Club instructors also get a set for the Instruct section, starting with i (for example i then s for students). The shortcuts list (Ctrl + /) shows the full set for the workspace you're in.

When shortcuts don't fire

Shortcuts are paused while you're typing in a field, so pressing g in the remarks box types a "g" rather than jumping somewhere. Click outside the field, or press Esc, and they work again. Ctrl + K is the exception: it opens command search even from inside a field.

Ctrl + K, or the magnifying glass in the top bar, opens a search box listing what you can do from where you are. Start typing to narrow it down: "entries", "export", "settings" and so on. Use the arrow keys to move through the list and Enter to choose.

It's the quickest way to reach pages that don't have a shortcut of their own, such as Import or a particular settings page.
